Despite the crazy weather we’ve had, Grundy softball was able to get their season started. The Lady Jackets opened up at home with an 11-9 win over a tough Huntland team. The Lady Jackets were down 5-1 before they rallied in the third inning to put seven runs on the board to take an 8-6 lead. They put three more runs across the plate in the fourth to extend their lead to 11-6. The Lady Jackets were able to hang on to the lead the rest of the game for the win.
“It’s great to open the season with a win, but we still have a long way to go before we are a good team. The key for us will be to outwork and out hustle the other team. We are young and will make mistakes early, but with good attitude and work ethic, we will be very competitive in our district,” says head coach Jason Evans.
Grundy softball will travel to Cumberland County tonight (Thursday) for their first district matchup. First pitch will be at 5 p.m.
