The Grundy County High School Lady Jackets are preparing for the 2017-2018 basketball season with new coach Kim Shibayama.
“Growth and a desire to improve. Those are the two things that stand out to me the most over the course of the last three weeks,” says Shibayama. “I am very proud of this group of young ladies. We composed a staff that carefully chose young women who displayed characteristics of toughness, willingness to make adjustments when coached, and a baseline skill set that could be developed. Our staff has been very pleased with the progress we have made in a very short period of time.”
The Lady Jackets recently played 17 games, over five days of team camps.
“We are learning to compete on a higher level,” Shibayama explained. “We are learning how to push the ball up the floor with a faster tempo and also learning how to defend better on the defensive end. It has been a lot in a very short period of time.”
