The Lady Jackets hung tough through the first quarter as four different players nailed three pointers to keep the game close at 15 – 12 Lady Pioneers after a quarter. However, the Lady Jackets would go ice cold from the perimeter, were not able to penetrate the Lady Pioneer defense on the inside, and couldn’t keep pace. Junior point guard Teah Bosio led the Lady Jackets with 15 points.

The Lady Jacket offense rebounded from their chilly opening night with a balanced attack. They made 10 of 12 free throws in the fourth quarter, but couldn’t overcome the Lady Wildcats in the 61 – 57 loss. Lacy Nunley led the Lady Jackets with 18 points, while Bosio added 13, and Kelsey Harriman dropped in 11 markers.

The Yellow Jackets played the Pioneers tough through the first half. They trailed by seven points at the break. The second half was all Warren County as they outscored the Jackets 39-19. Junior shooting sensation Trey Hampton scored 18 points to lead the Jackets, including four shots from behind the arc.

The Jackets raced out to a 10 -0 lead after one quarter before the hosts heated up in the second quarter to take an 18 – 14 lead at intermission. This defensive struggle stayed close in the second half and the Wildcats knocked down 7 of 12 free throws in the fourth quarter to stop the Jackets’ rally. Sophomore Kollyn Cooper led the Jackets with 11 points, while Trey Hampton added 10 markers.

The teams opened the 2016 – 17 regular season Monday night at Franklin County, and hosted Coffee County Tuesday night in the season’s home opener. We will have a full report in next week’s edition.

After taking Thanksgiving weekend off, the Lady Jackets and Jackets will return to action next Friday, December 2, when they travel to Wartrace in Bedford County to take on the Lady Champions and Champions of Cascade High School.
