The Lady Jackets and Jackets both picked up a district win at home against Marion Co. The girls’ team dominated in their game winning 65-29. The boys’ team also won by a large margin defeating the Mari-on County Warriors 83-66.
Lady Jackets 65 – Marion Co. 29
It was a 15-8 Lady Jacket lead after one quar-ter of play and a 31-18 lead at the half. The Lady Jack-ets continued their hot shooting in the second half of play hitting nine threes total for the game and dominating on offense in defense.
Kristin Weaver and Lacy Nunley led the Lady Jackets with 15 points with Weaver hitting a three and Nunley hitting four threes. Ragan Meeks followed with 14 points including three from behind the arc. Teah Bosio scored six points. Delaney Hughes and Kristen Stiefel had four points each. Kiera Hobbs hit a three and Meleah Steven scored two points.
Jackets 83 – Marion Co. 66
The Marion County Warriors had the lead after one quarter 15-19. The Jackets outscored them in the second quarter 22-17 giving them a 37-36 lead at the half. Grundy main-tained the lead in the sec-ond half outscoring Marion County 46-30 for an 83-66 district win.
Trey Hampton led the Jackets with 21 points in-cluding 4 threes. Noah Bean followed with 19 points. Cullen Anderson had 10 points. Blane Harris scored eight points. Jordan Hackworth had seven points with two threes. Josh Nance and Corbin Lusk scored six points each. Kenzie Hill and Jaden Nance each hit a three pointer.
Grundy basketball has two district games coming up. They will travel to Bledsoe County on Friday and Marion County on Tuesday. Tipoff is at 6 p.m.
