Grundy’s middle school football program picked up right where they left last season by notching another win, defeating Dayton City 16-0. The teams played to a scoreless first half but the Junior Jackets turned up the heat in the second half, posting the two scores for the win.

“We had a good start tonight. Our defense held Dayton scoreless and the defensive line came through several times to stop them from scoring. Our offense had a 99-yard drive to score. Brayden Sanders toughed it out and played hurt most of the second half. Jayden Ruehling came in late in the game to play quarterback and did a great job stepping up into that role. We had a lot of positives but there’s things we can work on to get better and we will,” complimented Coach Daryl Graham who leads the Junior Jackets this year.

At halftime of the contest the stadium at the old GCHS was dedicated Coach Chris Pickett Stadium. Brayden Sanders led the offense carrying the ball 11 times for 127 yards. Evan Nunley had 10 carries for 61 yards. Nathan Coffelt picked up 47 yards on seven totes. Jory Scissom made one return for 19 yards.
