“We had another slow start falling behind again 14-0. South Pittsburg had a great game plan coming in. They had shown the spread offense in their previous two games so that’s what we prepared for, but came out in the Power I. It took us a little while to adjust but we did and they were unable to move the ball after that.
“We had break downs on special teams and gave up two kickoff returns. If we can play a whole game at the level that we are capable of playing, we are going to be hard to handle. That’s on my coaches and myself to get us off the bus ready to play. Most of them are not used to the bus rides and we got another one coming up this week to Bledsoe County,” said Coach Casey Tate.
Leading the offense Thursday was Ethan Nunley with 5 rushes for 117 yards and 2 touchdowns, completing 4 of 5 passing for 79 yards. Josh Wingo ran 7 times for 138 and 3 TDs. Johnie Adkins caught 4 passes for 79 yards. Kollyn Cooler ran 4 times for 78 yards and a TD before suffering a broken arm in the contest. Brayden Sanders ran 3 times for 24 yards and Hunter Sylvester ran twice for 11.
Josh Wingo led the defense with 5 tackles. Johnie Adkins, Kollyn Cooper and Brayden Sanders made 3 tackles each. Hagen Cash, Nicky Johnson, Isaac Carreto, BrandonLe Bennett and Chase Meeks had 2 stops each. Jaden Ruehling added one tackle.
The Junior Jackets travel to Bledsoe County this week for a 6:00 p.m. kickoff.
