Last Tuesday night, the Grundy County Yellow Jacket basketball team celebrated another former Jacket’s signing a college scholarship to play basketball at the next level.
GCHS graduate Jaden Nance, known by his coaches, teammates, and friends as “Larry,” had a ceremonial signing in front of a crowded band room of teammates, former teammates, coaches, family, and friends.
It was another heart-warming experience to see the GCHS athletic family come together to pay tribute to a young man that had worked hard for four years to reach a dream come true.
Head Coach Kevin Butner said, “Larry kept the team loose whether it be in practice or games. Even though he would keep things lighthearted, he held himself accountable for his actions in practice and in games. I really appreciate him as a player and as a friend.”
“Everyone loves Larry!” he concluded.
Before he took pictures with coaches, teammates, former teammates, friends, and family, Larry had this to offer:
“I want to thank God, my family, coaches, and teammates! Once a Jacket, always a Jacket!”
Nance and teammate Cullen Anderson will be reunited at Martin Methodist as teammates for the 2019 – 2020 college basketball season. College basketball with two former Jackets getting their chance to play at the next level. Sounds good! Doesn’t it?
