The Grundy County Yellow Jackets football team took the field this past Friday night in Marion County, for the Sequatchie Valley Jamboree. The Yellow Jackets faced two tough teams playing their first quarter against the South Pittsburg Pirates and their second quarter against the Sequatchie County Indians.
Grundy’s defense worked hard against a tough Pirate offense forcing a couple of fumbles that the Jackets were able to recover. Grundy’s offense made a couple of good runs but couldn’t make it to the end zone for the score. The Jackets fell short to the Pirates 7-0.
In their second quarter of play, the Jackets defense kept the Indians off the board. Ethan Nunley and Gavin Tate both had a rushing touchdown to give the Yellow Jackets a 12-0 win over the Indians.
The Jackets will open their season at home Friday night against the Eagles of East Hickman High School. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Dig out your purple and gold and come out and pack those stands Grundy fans!
