The Yellow Jackets baseball team are on a hot streak winning their first five games. Grundy defeated South Pittsburg 10-6 in their first regular season game. The Jackets dominated in the District 7AA Early Tournament winning all four games defeating district foes Cumberland County 12-1, Bledsoe County 9-4, Sequatchie County 5-0, and Marion County 15-15.
“The first week of the season went well, but we have plenty of areas we are going to need to improve on if we are going to be the team we want to be in May. I was very pleased with our offensive production and defensive play. The biggest area to improve on right now is our pitching depth and consistency. We have to do a better job of getting strike one and working ahead in counts. We have a lot of arms and our goal is to have a pitching staff that has 8 to 10 pitchers we can depend on to throw strikes in tough ball games,” says head coach Chase Jones.
