The rain cancelled some games for the Jackets last week including Monday’s district contest with Chattanooga Christian. The two games Grundy played were split by the team with one being a key district win over Sequatchie County. The team is now 13-7 on the season and is 1-1 in the district.

“The first game against Sequatchie last week was a learning lesson for us. We had multiple opportunities to win. The kids did a great job of responding the next night. That was a must win for us the way I see it. We need those district wins.

Looking at Shelbyville, their record isn’t that good but they’re a very good team. You have to look at who they’ve played and that shows what kind of team we are. I’m proud of our effort in that game we just came up short against a good team,” said Coach Chase Jones.

Tuesday the Jackets traveled to Chattanooga Christian. Wednesday they made up Monday’s rained out game on the mountain all barring more weather delays. Today through Sunday they play in the Mountain Valley Classic with games at Grundy each day as well as at Sequatchie, Marion and Lookout Valley. The Grundy pool will consist of Grundy, Page High School and Sale Creek. Several other teams will play on the mountain. Marion County and Signal Mountain will play at Grundy today at 5:00. Grundy play Sale Creek at 4:00 and Page at 8:30 on Friday. Saturday’s games will start at 11:00. Grundy plays Huntsville and Silverdale Baptist on Saturday. The championship rounds will begin at 1:00 on Sunday at Grundy. Get out and support the Yellow Jackets this week Yellow Jacket fans!

Shelbyville 8 – Grundy 4

Grundy dug themselves a hole early Saturday and couldn’t get out of it. Shelbyville scored one in the first, four in the second and three in the third to go up 8-0.
