It’s district tournament time and the Yellow Jackets host Bledsoe County tonight at 6 p.m., in a do or die contest. The winner advances to face Chattanooga Christian in a best of three games matchup. The loser will see their season end.

Grundy was 1-2 over the last week and saw Monday’s game with South Pittsburg moved to Tuesday due to rain. Results were unavailable at press time. The Jackets are 14-19 on the season and 6-4 in the district.

“We got taken to the woodshed by Signal Mountain. We played well against Huntland. They were down on their pitching chart but our kids played well and we hit the ball well. Paul Freeman threw a great game and just gave up two hits and no walks and the team played pretty solid defense behind him.

“Saturday was a good game for us and South Pittsburg. They threw their number 1. We threw out number 1. Blane threw well. They got five runs in the third and we had an error that could have got us out of the inning early. They got one in the top of the 7th and we couldn’t respond in the bottom of the inning,” said Coach Chase Jones.
