Jackets Drop Season Opener

The Lady Jackets got in some preseason action in the Hall of Fame games in Franklin County this past weekend playing two games. They saw tough competition with the Tullahoma Wildcats and the Shelbyville Golden Eagles.

The Lady Jackets started the game hot scoring 14 points in the first and looking good as they were leading 27-12 at the half. Tullahoma came out strong in the second half scoring 19 points in the third and holding the Lady Jackets to only eight points. The Wildcats continued to outscore the Lady Jackets in the fourth and claimed a one point victory.
The three seniors were getting the work done for Grundy as Lacy Nunley led the way with 13 points including two threes, followed by Teah Bosio’s 12 points and Kristin Weaver with 11 points. McKenzie Broadway contributed with five points. Delaney Hughes and Peyton Mainord scored two points each.
The Lady Jackets were once again haunted by the second half. Leading 25-21 at the half, the Lady Jackets were outscored in the second half falling to the Golden Eagles 48-58.
Teah Bosio led the Lady Jackets with 19 points including four three pointers. Kristin Weaver followed with 15 points including a three. Lacey Nunley had six points. Kristen Stiefel, McKenzie Broadway, Delaney Hughes, and Peyton Mainord all had two points each.
Regular season began Monday night for the Lady Jackets and the Jackets as they traveled to Coffee County.
The Lady Jackets faced a tough Coffee County team for their first regular season game. Grundy kept the game close but never could pull off the lead.
Senior Teah Bosio had a huge night for Grundy leading the way with 22 points including four three pointers. Lacy Nunley helped out with six points. Kristin Weaver scored five points. McKenzie Broadway and Kiera Hobbs had four points each and Delaney Hughes knocked down three foul shots.
The Yellow Jackets had a good first half but slowly dwindled down in the second half. Coffee County scored 24 points in the fourth to seal the win.
Trey Hampton led the Jackets with 13 points including a three. Kenzie Hill followed with ten points including two threes. Noah Bean had eight points. Blane Harris contributed with six points. Tyler Patrick hit two threes. Jordan Hackworth tossed in three foul shots. Cody Esslinger and Chris Nance both scored two points each.
Both the Lady Jackets and Jackets began play in the Thanksgiving Classic at Richard Hardy High School on Tuesday. Next week Grundy will travel to Richard Hardy again for a regular season game on Tuesday and will play host to Moore County on Thursday.
