The Jackets are back on a winning streak winning their last 7 games. They won both games in the series against district opponent Marion County 4-1 and 13-7. They picked up 4 wins in the Mountain Valley Classic defeating Whitwell 10-0, MTMHS 2-1, and Huntsville 11-1. The Jackets improved to 15-5 overall and 5-1 in District 7AA.
Marion Co 1
Grundy got the win in their first game of the series with the Marion County Warriors. The Jackets scored 1 in the first, 2 in the third, and added 1 more in the seventh for the 4-1 district win. Blane Harris went the distance on the mound giving up 6 hits, 1 run, and striking out 6.
Alex Killian went 3 for 4. Noah Bean and Trey Hampton were 2 for 4 and both getting a double. Bean also had a stolen base and 2 runs scored and Hampton had 2 RBIs. Harris, Tyler Patrick, and Evan Jaynes all hit 1 for 3 with Harris having 2 stolen bases and 2 runs scored. Jacob Thomas was 1 for 4 with a stolen base and a RBI.
Marion Co 7
It was a good night at the plate for the Jackets scoring 13 runs off of 8 hits. Jacob Thomas pitched the first 5 innings getting the win giving up 8 hits, 7 runs, and striking out 6. Kenzie Hill took the mound for the last 2 innings giving up 1 hit and striking out 5.
Evan Jaynes was 3 for 3 at the plate with a RBI and 3 runs scored. Noah Bean went 2 for 4 with a double, 3 RBIs, and a stolen base. Blane Harris hit 1 for 2 with a RBI, a stolen base, and 3 runs scored. Alex Killian and Hill were 1 for 4 with Killian getting 2 RBIs. Thomas had 2 RBIs and a run scored. Trey Hampton notched a RBI. Steven Yates scored 3 times and Ethan Chouinard had 2 runs scored.
The Jackets took a 4-0 lead in the third after Noah Bean sailed one over the fence. Grundy put 4 more on the board in the fourth after a 2 run double from Trey Hampton and a single from Alex Killian and Kenzie Hill. After scoring 2 more in the fifth, the Jackets put the game out of reach for the Tigers. Casen King went the distance on the mound only giving up 4 hits and striking out 3.
Hampton and Blane Harris were 2 for 3 at the plate with Hampton notching 3 RBIs and a run scored and Harris with 3 stolen bases and 3 runs scored. Bean went 2 for 4 with a homerun, 4 RBIs, and a run scored. Killian, Hill, and Evan Jaynes hit 1 for 3 with Killian batting in a run, Hill getting 2 RBIs, and Jaynes scoring a run. Ethan Chouinard and Thomas had 2 runs scored.
Mid-TN Monarchs 1
It was a defensive battle between the two teams. Blane Harris scored the first run of the game on a passed ball giving the Jackets a 1-0 lead. MTM tied it 1-1 in the sixth sending the game to extra innings. In the bottom of the tenth inning, Steven Yates gets the Jackets started with a double and a bunt from Casen King sets Yates up for the score. Harris sends one deep enough in the outfield to score Yates for the 2-1 win. Yates pitched the first 5 innings giving up 4 hits, 1 run, and striking out 5. Evan Jaynes took the mound for the last 5 innings getting the win, giving up no hits and striking out 3.
Yates and Trey Hampton hit 1 for 3 with Yates scoring a run. Harris, Kenzie Hill, and King went 1 for 4 with Harris getting a RBI, a stolen base, and a run scored.
The Huntsville Falcons scored their only run of the game in the first inning. The Jackets controlled the rest of the game scoring 11 runs on 15 hits. Jayden Markum got the win on the mound pitching 6 innings, giving up 7 hits, 1 run, and striking out 6. Ethan Chouinard pitched the last inning striking out 1.
Noah Bean led at the plate going 4 for 4 with a double, 3 RBIs, a stolen base and 3 runs scored. Alex Killian and Chouinard were 2 for 3 with both scoring a run and Killian with a RBI. Trey Hampton and Blane Harris hit 2 for 5. Hampton had a double, a triple, 4 RBIs, and a run scored and Harris had a stolen base and 2 runs scored. Jacob Thomas, Kenzie Hill and Evan Jaynes all went 1 for 3. Thomas had a RBI and a run scored, Hill had 2 RBIs, and Jaynes scored a run.
The Jackets will begin their series against district opponent Sequatchie County on Monday night in Dunlap. Tuesday night’s game will be at home. First pitch is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. for both games.
