Jackets 2-2 in tourney

The Jackets baseball team went 2-2 in the Trojan Classic Tournament. They fell to Soddy Daisy 8-7 and Cleveland 10-3. They picked up wins against Lincoln County 14-6 and Chattanooga Christian 9-2. The Jackets are now 17-7 overall and 5-1 in District 7AA.
Soddy Daisy 8 – Jackets 7
The Jackets had the lead 5-1 after three innings. Soddy Daisy put up 4 runs in the fifth to the Jackets 1 and took the lead in the sixth after scoring 2 more runs. The Jackets tied it up in the top of the seventh but Soddy Daisy was able to score in the bottom for the win. Blane Harris pitched the first inning and a third giving up 1 hit, 1 run, and striking out 1. Evan Jaynes pitched the next three and two thirds inning giving up 3 hits and 4 runs. Kenzie Hill suffered the loss pitching the last inning and a third giving up 4 hits and 3 runs.
Harris hit 1 for 1 with 2 stolen bases and 2 runs scored. Trey Hampton was 1 for 2 with a RBI, a stolen base, and a run scored. Ethan Chouinard went 1 for 3. Jacob Thomas, Alex Killian, Hill and Jaynes were all 1 for 4. Thomas scored 2 runs. Killian had a double, a RBI, and a run scored. Hill had a RBI. Noah Bean scored a run.
Jackets 14 – Lincoln Co. 6
The Jackets were down 5-2 before scoring 4 runs in the fourth to take the lead. They scored 3 more in the sixth and 5 in the seventh while holding Lincoln County to none for the 14-6 win. Steven Yates got the win on the mound going the distance, giving up 10 hits, 6 runs, and striking out 3.
Noah Bean led at the plate going 3 for 4 with a homerun, 4 RBIs, a stolen base, and 4 runs scored. Jacob Thomas hit 2 for 2 with 2 RBIs, a stolen base, and 3 runs scored. Alex Killian was 2 for 3 with a double and 3 RBIs. Bailey Hill went 1 for 2 with a run scored. Kenzie Hill and Blane Harris were 1 for 3 with Hill getting a double and 3 RBIs. Harris scored 3 runs. Ethan Chouinard and Evans Jaynes hit 1 for 4 and scored runs. Yates had a RBI.
Jackets 9 – Chatt. Christian 2
Noah Bean got the Jackets started with a solo homerun in the first inning. Chattanooga Christian went ahead after scoring 2 in the third. The Jackets regained the lead in the fourth scoring 4 runs off of 5 hits. They scored 2 more in the sixth and 3 in the seventh for the 9-2 win. Jacob Thomas got the win on the mound pitching the first 4 innings, giving up 3 hits, 2 runs, and striking out 6. Casen King pitched the last 3 innings only giving up 1 hit and striking out 3.
Bean hit 2 for 4 with a homerun, a RBI, and 2 runs scored. Trey Hampton and Kenzie Hill were 2 for 3. Hampton had a double and scored 3 runs. Hill had a RBI and scored 2 runs. Alex Killian went 2 for 2 with a RBI. Tyler Patrick was 1 for 4 with 2 RBIs. Evan Jaynes hit 1 for 5 with a RBI. Steven Yates had 3 RBIs.
Cleveland 10 – Jackets 3
The Jackets only scored 3 runs on 7 hits while giving up 9 hits and 10 runs. Jayden Markum suffered the loss on the mound pitching the first 2 innings giving up 7 hits, 6 runs, and striking out 4. Ethan Chouinard pitched the next inning and two thirds giving up 2 runs. Braxton Norris finished the game giving up 2 hits, 2 runs, and striking out 3.
Noah Bean hit 2 for 2 with a double, a triple, a stolen base, and 2 runs scored. Bailey Hill and Norris were 1 for 2 with Norris notching a RBI. Evan Jaynes was 1 for 3. Kenzie Hill went 1 for 4 and scored a run. Steven Yates was 1 for 1. Jacob Thomas and Jaden Ruehling both had a RBI. Blane Harris had a stolen base.
The Jackets play Dekalb County tonight and Huntland on Monday night. Both games are at home with a 5:00 p.m. start time. Senior night for the Jackets will be on Tuesday with a start time of 5:30 p.m.
