Grundy righted the ship and have rolled off three straight wins over the last week. The team moved to 23-5 on the season and 7-3 in district play.

“The goal at the beginning of the year was trying to place first or second in the district to get the bye and avoid the play-in game. We’ve done that by placing second. We’ll most likely face Signal Mountain in a best of three series. Winning the last three was key in this with the two district wins.

“The last few weeks has been crazy with rainouts and rescheduling. We were supposed to travel to Huntland, but they were gracious enough to come to our place to give us a senior night when ours got cancelled by Marion who had to make up a district game.

baseball 12“We’ve worked to instill in the team to make it out of the district and on to the state. In the district tournament, it’s where the men are separated from the boys. Everything we’ve done since last year had been to prepare for what starts on Friday. I feel good where we’re at. We’ve had a good year.

“I’d like to challenge the community to come out and fill the bleachers. These kids feed off of the enthusiasm in the stands and I don’t think they’ll be disappointed with the effort of their team,” said Coach Jones Monday night.

Grundy was set to go to DeKalb County on Tuesday. Senior night was moved to Wednesday night against Huntland for the final regular season game. The district tournament begins Friday and the Jackets will host at 5 p.m. Get out and support the Jackets this week!
