Tennessee Temple – This week’s USCAA National Baseball Player of the Week honor goes to Hunter Brown of Tennessee Temple University. On the week, Brown went 9 for 17 at the plate for a .529 batting average, which included 3 doubles and 9 RBIs. His play helped lead the Crusaders to a 4-0 record last week. In the field, Brown also recorded 15 putouts.
Hunter, Cody and the Crusaders split with Johnson University on April 2 dropping the first game 5-1 and rebounding in the nightcap for an 18-0 win. Hunter is rehabbing a sore shoulder and did not play in either game. Cody Wilson did not pitch this week and therefore no stats were available. Tennessee Temple will be off from April 2 through April 9th when they return to action against the University of Pikeville in Pikeville, Kentucky. They will then head over to Berea College for a single game on the 10th followed by a double header on April 11th. The Crusaders will then travel back to Knoxville for an April 14th double header at Johnson University.
The Crusaders now stand at 15-7 on the season and are ranked #1 in the nation in the USCAA Coaches Poll. The top 10 teams will receive a bid to the USCAA World Series to be held in Pennsylvania May 10-14.
