The Yellow Jackets will host Huntland Friday at 6:30 p.m. for a scrimmage to complete spring drills. The Jackets have been working in pads over the last two weeks and Coach Casey Tate has been working to install his system and evaluate players and positions.
“It’s been about what you’d expect. We’re trying to find out where people fit in to certain positions, move people around and see where they can be successful. We’re trying to install the base of the offense and the base of the defense. We’re looking for fundamentals and heart,” said Coach Tate in a Sunday telephone interview.
Through Friday, Tate had 33 out in pads but he also has some injured who aren’t able to compete currently.
Coach Tate hopes the Yellow Jacket faithful will come out to watch Friday’s scrimmage and support the team.
“That’s the only way they get recognition for their hard work. I would love to see a big crowd come support them,” said Tate.
