Coach Chase Jones and the Yellow Jackets will be hosting three different baseball skills camps in June for youth players ages five through 13. All camps will be held at the high school baseball field and will be from 3:00 to 4:30 in the afternoons.
June 2, 3 and 4 will be a throwing, fielding and base running camp. June 9, 10 and 11 is a pitching and catching camp. June 16, 17 and 18 is a hitting camp.
The camps cost $50 for each camp per child. Additional siblings would cost $35 and if your child attends the first two camps they can attend the hitting camp for free. All proceeds from the camps benefit the high school program.
Coach Jones will be assisted in the camp by Coach Brad Dees and the current Yellow Jacket baseball players. Those attending the camp are encouraged to bring their gloves, bats, cleats and a cap.
“Our goals are to aid in the development of skills that are vital to play baseball at a high level. This program is designed to help improve youth players’ skills and in the long run to develop baseball players that will make Grundy County one of the top AA programs in the state. This is an exciting time for Grundy County athletics and it is our mission to develop young athletes into highly skilled baseball players. The program will consist of three weeks of intense instruction, focusing on throwing, fielding, hitting, pitching, and catching. Parents and youth league coaches are encouraged to attend the sessions with their kids,” said Coach Jones.
Parents and adults needing more information about the camp are encouraged to contact Coach Jones at 931-607-6382.
