Grundy County High School golf took to the road last Monday to play in the District 7A-AA Tournament at Fall Creek Falls. The teams knew the clear favorites were Notre Dame and Signal Mountain, but did not know much about the teams from the Upper Cumberland Area. As the scores came in, the team realized their chances of advancing were looking good. When the last scores were posted, the Jackets had earned third place. This spot gave the team a spot in the Region 4A-AA Tourney this Monday. Junior John Meeks scored fourth, with a score of 79.

Grundy Golf team picIn girls play, Sophomore Emily Smith advanced as an individual with a score of 114.

Coach Trey Foster is proud of his team’s performance.

“Bottom line is they believed that if we played our best, we had a shot. John played a great round. Seniors Jessie and Ajay bested their season average, and Hunter Ladd played while sick,” said Foster.

“Zach and Emily kept fighting, even after a rough start. They earned it.”
