Grants Awarded to Schools for Extended Programs

Posted on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at 2:29 pm

The Grundy County School System has been awarded grants for Extended Programs in excess of $500,000. The LEAPS and 21st CCLC Grants provide funding to operate enrichment programs before and after school hours. This is the most Grundy County Schools have ever received through the Extended Programs.
Each school in the system has the opportunity to participate in the program for students in kindergarten through grade 12. Participating sites provides time for homework help, USDA snacks, physical education activities, character development, and fun math/language remediation.
Dr. Kayla Rymer and Renee Grooms are the school coordinators for the grants. Parents are encouraged to stop by the school their child attends and ask any questions they may have regarding enrollment.
Hilda Vaughn, grant writer for Grundy County Schools, worked to provide an excellent proposal to help obtain the funding.
