On September 20, the Grundy County High School cross-country team traveled to Arrowhead Ranch at Normandy, freshmen Chris Nance and Jathan Campbell medaled.
In the boys’ race, Nance finished 13th, with a time of 19:44; breaking 20 minutes was a milestone in this young runner’s career. The other male team members finished strong with Caleb Grimes (21:21), Sebastian Ledford (21:39), Quaid Anderson (22:52), Kase Johnson (25:31), Campbell (24:03), Kyler Prater (26:08), Cole Sanders (26:09), Brody Morrison (29:51), and McKenzie Dickerson (33:54). In the girls’ race Jadan Campbell finished 8th with a time of 25:39, and Shanda Thomas finished 21st with a time of 29:26.
On October 4, the cross-country team traveled to SAS where the Yellow Jackets finished very strong. Campbell came in third, and Nance came in eleventh. The men ran their best race of the season with a third place finish by the team comprised of Campbell (21:06), Nance (22:51), Grimes (23:51), Ledord (24:15), and Anderson (24:16). Other male finishers were Johnson (26:07), Prater (26:34), Sanders (27:35), Morrison (31:07), and Dickerson (38:56).
The women also had their best race of the season at Saint Andrews. Freshman Campbell finished second with a time of 28:05, while Thomas finished eighth with a time of 30:55, and Clarissa Meeks finished tenth with a time of 31:45.
This week GCXC will host their last regular season meet at Grundy County High School at 4 p.m., and would love the community to come out and watch these fine athletes. No halftimes, no substitutions, no time outs! Go run!
