GCXC Finishes Strong

While sprinting toward the finish line, the GCXC hosted the last regular meet of the season on October 13, with Franklin County High School, Saint Andrews-Sewanee, and Warren County High School attending.

gcxcThe boys’ race was held first with Christian Locke of Warren County finishing first with a time of 18:36. Grundy County High School had two medalists with Jathan Campbell finishing fourth (19:37) and Chris Nance finishing twelfth (20:52). Other GCHS male finishers were Caleb Grimes-16th (21:45), Sebastian Ledford-17th (21:48), Quaid Anderson-18th (22:00), Kyler Prater-21st (23:41), Kase Johnson-22nd (24:00), Cole Sanders-26th (28:48), Brody Morrison-35th (30:18), and McKenzie Dickerson-37th (32:38).

The girls’ race was especially exciting as the overall winner was GCHS’s very own Jadan Campbell with a time of 25:56. Another Grundy girl, Shanda Thomas, finished fourth as a medalist with a time of 27:34.

GCXC boys and girls finished in third place overall.

On October 25, the GCXC members traveled to Cookeville High School for the Region 4AA meet to compete against eleven other high schools. Although none of GCHS’s runners advanced to state, two freshmen had very impressive finishes. Chris Nance finished 36th with a time of 19:57, and Jadan Campbell finished 40th with a time of 26:37. This was the last high school race of their running careers for seniors Jathan Campbell, Clarissa Meeks, Brody Morrison, and Shanda Thomas.
