GCXC Finishes Strong; Dickerson Wins Again

GCXC at SewaneeOn Tuesday, GCXC traveled to Coffee County for a meet with nine other schools, the majority of which were AAA schools. John David Dickerson, II, was victorious once again as the overall winner. Jathan Campbell also had a great race, finishing fourth overall. The men’s team ran a strong, hard race and finished third overall behind Warren and Coffee Counties, but they were thrilled to defeat schools like Blackman, Shelbyville, Smyrna, and Tullahoma. The women’s team is growing stronger with every race and has even been praised by other schools for the encouragement they give to struggling runners.

John David dickerson GCXCGCXC returned to Saint Andrews on Thursday to compete against Coffee County, Lincoln County, Saint Andrews, and Webb School. JD Dickerson led all runners and finished with a time of 18:50. Grundy’s top five finishers were Dickerson-first, Jathan Campbell-fifth, Austin Campbell-eighth, Matthew McFarland-eleventh, and Caleb Grimes-fourteenth, resulting in a team score of 39. Coffee County’s finishers were third, fourth, sixth, seventh, and seventeenth, resulting in a team score of 37. The ladies’ team also had a great race with all four ladies finishing in the top twenty: Shanda Thomas-ninth, Clarissa Meeks-tenth, Kloie Harper-seventeenth, and Trinity Curtis-nineteenth.

This week the team traveled to Arrowhead Ranch in Normandy for their next scheduled Mid-State Cross Country Association Meet, but no results were available at press time. No half times. No substitutions, no timeouts. Go run!
