The Grundy County Sheriff’s Office has re-ceived notification of a grant award to enhance court security. Working with Judge Trey Anderson and the Administrative Of-fice of the Courts, Sheriff Clint Shrum secured $12,000 in funding. The grant will be used to up-grade metal detectors and scanners. It also provides funding for court security training.
Shrum explained this is the third phase in the pro-cess of implementing a safer environment for both the public and employees. The first phase was com-pleted in 2016, with the in-stallation of security cam-eras. Courthouse staff re-cently completed the sec-ond phase by participating in an active shooter train-ing session provided by the Sheriff’s Office. The third phase will come in the weeks to come as the Sheriff’s Office implements the new equipment and security plan.
