Grundy County sheriff’s deputy Joseph Greenwell, of Altamont, has been charged with a DUI.
Sheriff Clint Shrum reported that on Wednesday, April 15, a deputy was sent to check on Greenwell after he had missed three work shifts. The deputy saw Greenwell driving a vehicle erratically and pulled him over. When the deputies approached Greenwell they could smell alcohol.
The deputies administered a field sobriety test, which Greenwell failed, and a blood-alcohol test has been submitted.
Greenwell was charged with driving under the influence and booked into the Grundy County jail.
Shrum also reported that there had been suspicion that Greenwell had an alcohol problem and he had been offered help for his drinking in March of this year.
