Alexa Fults competed at the Karen Hamilton Memorial Swim Meet which was hosted by the Tullahoma Swim Club and held at the Manchester Recreation Center on Saturday, January 10. Twelve teams from Middle Tennessee and Northern Alabama participated in this meet. Even though she was swimming with a fractured tailbone, Alexa managed good times and placed second in the 50 yd. freestyle, second in the 100 yd. backstroke, second in the 100 yd. freestyle, and third in the 100 yd. butterfly. Alexa’s times during this year have qualified her to represent Grundy County High School in the 200 yd. freestyle and all four of the above mentioned events at the MTHSSA High School Region Championship. Swimmers are allowed to compete in only two events, so Alexa will swim the two events of her choice. The Middle Tennessee High School Region Championship will be held on January 31, at the Centennial Sportsplex in Nashville. Alexa, a sophomore at GCHS, is the daughter of Randy and Sherri Fults of Hubbard’s Cove. In addition to high school meets Alexa also swims year round on the Manchester Makos Swim Team, and during the summer she swims in the Race League with the Coffee and Tullahoma Swim Team.
