According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol report, the vehicle was traveling northbound on Midway Road when it went off the right side of the roadway while trying to negotiate a left-hand curve. After leaving the roadway, the vehicle struck an embankment and came to a final rest on the right side of the roadway. Along with the driver, there were five other passengers in the vehicle. The student who passed away was ejected through the passenger side window and succumbed to his injuries. The other four passengers, along with the driver, were uninjured.
Criminal charges have been filed against the driver of the vehicle, Dallon Dodson, 20, of Sewanee. He has been charged with Driving Under the Influence and Vehicular Homicide. Each charge carries a $250,000 bond. At this time, he remained in the Franklin County Jail.
