Grundy County High School cheerleaders attended UCA Cheer camp at Middle Tennessee State University, in July. The squad spent the weekend learning new dances, cheers, and stunts. On the last day of camp, they competed against other high school squads and brought home a first place trophy for their rally (dance) routine. The squad also received the UCA Banana. The Banana is a coveted spirit award that is only given to three squads at camp. The Banana is awarded to teams at camp that show leadership, spirit, and the overall ability to work hard and still have fun. Faith Coffelt and Megan Payne were chosen as UCA All-American Cheerleaders. They will represent Grundy County High School at the Disney Thanksgiving Parade in Orlando, Florida, in November. Sophia Layne received the Pin It Forward Award which is chosen by UCA camp staff. The Pin It Forward Award is given to standout cheerleaders that portray leadership, spirit, kindness, and motivation.
