Grundy County High’s bass fishing team fished their last regular season tourney Saturday on Chickamauga Lake out of Dayton, the same location where the SAF TN State High School Championship will be held May 31.
The GCHS Bass Team faced off against Silverdale Baptist Academy, Rhea County and Soddy Daisy in Saturday’s tournament and finished third as a team. To determine team scores Silverdale who ran the even took the top three boats from each teams and added their weights. Rhea County finished first with 34.33 pounds. Soddy Daisy was second with 24.56. Grundy was third with 24.27 pounds and Silverdale finished last with 12.47
Grundy had 11 boats fish the event with their highest place being fifth with Samuel Morgan and Eldon Posey catching four fish for 8.40 pounds. Kyle Ingleburger and Kyle Palmer were sixth with three fish for 8.04. Kayla Green and Cody McGee took eighth with three fish for 7.83. Rhea County had the top three places with their first place team catching five fish fo2.91 pounds.
Grundy’s Kyle Palmer had the big fish for the event with a 4.29 pound largemouth. Rounding out Grundy’s results were Dalton Summers and Chad Cordell in thirteenth, Tyler Nolan and Hunter Layne in fourteenth, Garrett Whitman and Ben Franklin in sixteenth, Robert Easterly and Christopher Beckwith in nineteenth, Hank Lowrie in twenty first, Tristan Owenby and Austin Jackson in twenty second, Dakota Travis and Zackary Hiett in twenty third and Sam Lockhart and Jacob Scruggs in twenty seventh.
