The Grundy County Health Department will be offering free flu vaccines next week as part of a statewide campaign to “Fight Flu TN.”
Next Thursday, Nov. 19, health department officials will be set up at Grundy County High School, 24970 TN-108, Coalmont, 37313, from 3:45 – 6:45 p.m. administering free flu shots to anyone who wants one.
“Getting a flu vaccine is the best way to protect yourself, your family and others in our community from the flu,” said Grundy County Health Department Director Charlene Nunley. “The flu can make you very sick, keep you away from work, school and other activities, put you in the hospital or even take your life. We urge everyone in Grundy County who hasn’t received a flu shot yet to get one now, and this event is a great time to do it.
The health department recommends a yearly fly vaccine for everyone aged 6 months and older. The flu vaccine is especially important for infants, young children, pregnant women, adults over age 50 and those with chronic medical conditions. The flu shot remains the best protection against influenza.
