Fourth of July Celebrations

Monteagle has announced plans for their Fourth of July celebration, to be held Saturday, July 4. Activities will run throughout the day, culminating with a spectacular fireworks display at the Monteagle ballpark.

The theme for this year’s celebration is “Travel Across America.”

Lineup for the parade will begin at 9 a.m. behind the Smokehouse with the parade beginning at 10 a.m. First place trophies will be given in the following categories: most patriotic, best float, best car/truck, best use of theme, best animal, best ATV, best animal and wagon, best youth, best go-cart/golf cart, best public service vehicle, and best decorated. The float best demonstrating the theme of the celebration will be awarded $100.

Immediately following the parade, bed races will be held through the center of town with a prize $150 for the winning team.

4th-of-July-wellington-floridaEvening activities will take place at the ballpark, beginning with a flag raising ceremony at 6 p.m. Games, including bouncy houses, will be at the ballpark for the enjoyment of all beginning at 6:15 p.m. Games and contests include an adult Wiffle Ball tournament, a watermelon eating contest, a pie eating contest, a watermelon seed spitting contest, duck pick-up, an egg toss, a water balloon toss, tug-of-war, and more.

Pelham will host the annual Independence Day Parade and Fire Department Fish Fry on Saturday, June 27, at Pelham Ballpark.

Scheduled events:

8 a.m. – Ball tournament (continues until fireworks in the evening).

10 a.m. – Parade line up at the old Fire Team building.

10:30 a.m. – Parade begins.

11 a.m. – Fire Department Fish Fry ($10 per plate).

12 p.m. – Kids hose down.

12 p.m. – Corn Hole tournament ($10 entry fee).

6:30 p.m. – Patriotic program.

7 p.m. – Pelham’s finest gospel, blue grass, and country music.

9 p.m. – Fireworks.

Sewanee Fourth of July celebration is approaching. The theme for this year’s celebration is Sewanee Purple Mountain Majesty.

We are hoping you will attend our festivities and participate in our parade. We would love to have as many entries as possible. Parade organizers hope to have many entries. So gather up your family, friends, or coworkers and come join the fun. All entries are welcome. Suggestions include musical, clowns, bicycles, horses, floats, baton twirlers, beauty pageant winners, or cars – just to name a few. The parade will begin at 2 p.m. on July 4.

Three trophies awarded in the following categories: best float (an entry is considered a float if it consists of a flatbed trailer being pulled by a vehicle); best-decorated vehicle; and best horse drawn entry. Ribbons will be given for best-decorated bicycle. Judging for the entries will begin at 1 p.m.

This year, the parade will be traveling downhill from Hall Street to the Sewanee Market. The lineup is in the parking lot behind Benedict Hall. This is the lot between Hall Street and Mississippi Avenue.
