Updated: The name of the victim killed in a fire has been released. Charles Edward Long, Sr., of Beersheba Springs was killed on March 20, in a fire at his home. The state Fire Marshall investigated the fire and determined it was accidental and stated that it appeared the victim was smoking in bed.
The Grundy County Sheriff’s Office, in conjunction with the Altamont Fire Department, worked a fire scene at 3676 Northcutts Cove Road, Beersheba Springs, on Tuesday morning.
Sheriff Clint Shrum reports there was one decedent. The State Arson Investigators office was called to the scene.
Preliminary reports indicated the decedent may have been smoking in bed. At press time, the name of the decedent was being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
