Grundy County Sheriff Clint Shrum and his corrections supervisors appeared before the Tennessee Corrections Institute Board of Directors this past Wednesday for the official presentation of the certificate of certification.
TCI Director Beth Ashe stated, “I attribute the recent state certification of the current Grundy County Jail to the exceptional hard work and professional leadership of Sheriff Shrum and his dedicated administrators, correctional officers and staff. It was evident from the first day of the New Sheriffs’ School, shortly after Sheriff Shrum was elected, that the goal of state jail certification was a top priority.
He displayed a tremendous professional focus and determination to work closely with the Grundy county commissioners, the mayor and other elected officials in successfully achieving what had not been accomplished in nearly twenty-six prior years,” continued Ashe. “Not only did the community achieve accreditation in such a short period, the sheriff also met all the newly revised state jail standards as well. Sheriff Shrum is a devoted public servant with a caring heart and a deep passion for helping others. TCI will continue to work closely with Grundy County officials in continuing their state certification by providing any additional technical assistance necessary to Sheriff Shrum and his community.”
The new facility has been operational for just over three months.
