Grundy County, Tenn. – After the announcement came Friday that Grundy County High School was assume a one week virtual-only schedule for this week, an all call from central office Sunday evening announced that all schools in the district were now on a two-week virtual only schedule due to an “overwhelming number” of positive COVID cases within the schools’ populations. The district has pledged the time of online learning will be used for cleaning the school facilities.
The period for virtual-only classrooms will be starting with September 28 classes and, assuming the period is not extended, will be completed with the end of classes on October 9.
The central office has also called off all after school including the high school’s Homecoming football game originally scheduled for October 2, 2020.
It was not immediately clear how those students that were attending in-person classes were going to be outfitted to take advantage of the virtual learning environment if they did not already have the electronic items to attend online. The Grundy County Herald is following this story throughout the day in hopes of bringing more information very soon.
