Looks like we are on the home stretch to Christmas. The last city parade will be in Palmer on Saturday. The lineup will begin at 3pm at Layne’s funeral home and kickoff at 4 p.m., traveling to downtown Palmer where the Christmas crew has a full evening of memory-making fun planned for the kids including story time, caroling, and dinner with Mr. & Mrs. Santa. I have even heard that every child will receive a toy. How wonderful is that?!
What would the holiday season be without a little Christian wrestling. Saturday, the boys are back at the Florence Scruggs Auditorium in Altamont. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., Bell time is 7 p.m. Penny Sons and I were just talking about how fun it was growing up watching Tojo Yamamoto and others at local venues. I am still trying to find out Chris Grooms wrestling name, if you know it, holler at me.
LeTease, Mary, Nadene, Ted and I went to the Beersheba Assembly’s Christmas luncheon last week and won the Christmas Advent Trivia game sponsored by McMinnville UMC. I could not have picked a better team; their knowledge of the bible really helped us represent the home team well. On the way home, I stopped by the courthouse open house where Kenny Barrett and crew were leading some spirited Christmas carols, Santa was surrounded by smiling children, and the Grinch was being his impish self. Of course, there were a ton of yummies to snack on too. I can’t brag enough on our local leaders, both city and county. This season, the gifts of fellowship and giving has reminded me once again why there is no better place on earth than right here in Grundy County. And yes Daniel, the best courthouse in America!
Next week, we will talk about cold weather, driving in snow and ice, and holiday hours.
As always, until next time, shop local.
