The 11th annual AngelFest will begin Friday, Oct. 7 at 4:30 p.m. with several children’s activities. The Sewanee Business Alliance is sponsoring three full hours of children and family activities during AngelFest in the downtown village of Sewanee. Activities include Make and Take Art, Science Fun, Bounce house and water slide, and a host of other activities for your kids.
Following the children’s activities of AngelFest will be the music of Jimmy Hall, famous musician from the band Wet Willy. He will take the stage from the pavilion at 7 p.m. Back again will be several local vendors will be displaying their wares.
Jimmy Hall first gained popularity as the lead vocalist, saxophonist, and harmonica player for the band Wet Willie, emerging from Mobile, Alabama. His songs have been recorded by Gregg Allman, Jason Isbell, The Marshall Tucker Band, Blackberry Smoke, The Amazing Rhythm Aces, Johnny Russell, and many others. Hall has appeared as a featured guest artist with multiple groups.
The annual Reverse Raffle tickets will also be on sale at this year’s AngelFest. Tickets will be on sale for $100 each. The grand prize will be awarded during the annual Christmas Tree Lighting festivities up to $5,000 (depending on total ticket sales). The raffle proceeds will be going to Housing Sewanee (our local Habitat) and Sewanee Angel Park. Tickets will be on sale up to the drawing. Tickets can be bought at several of the local Sewanee merchants and on the web at sewaneeangelpark.com.
There will be plenty of food and refreshments available. University Ave. and will be shut to traffic to ensure everyone’s safety.
The Sewanee Business Alliance along with the AngelFest sponsors will be offering all this free to the community.
