Candidate qualifying for the March 1, 2016, Primary election ended December 10, at 12 p.m.

The local race for consideration was Assessor of Property. Both the county Republican and Democrat party executive committees requested primaries held in conjunction with the Presidential Preference Primary.

One Republican petition and two Democrat petitions were in circulation before the deadline, but only one petition was returned by incumbent Assessor of Property Joanne Childers, who will run unopposed.

On the Grundy County Republican Presidential Preference Ballots will be Presidential candidates and delegates. On the County Democratic Presidential Preference Ballot will be Presidential candidates and the Assessor of Property.

The last day to register to vote in this election will be February 1, 2016.

“If you are not currently registered and if you are at least 18 years old or will be 18 on or before March 1, we urge you to do so,” said Donna Basham, Election Administratior.

In addition to registering at the courthouse in the Election Office, voter forms are available at each of the county’s post offices, libraries, most city halls, and all assistance agencies. You may print a form from the state’s website by going to GoVote.TN.com, complete all questions, and mail or bring to the election Office by February 1.
