The last day for a candidate who would like to be placed on the March 1, 2016, Primary Ballot is December 10, at 12 p.m.
The County Assessor of Property will be on the ballot with Presidential candidates. Candidates for Assessor of Property have the option of running in the Republican Primary or the Democrat Primary. At this time, Joanne Childers has a petition in circulation seeking nomination for Democratic Party.
A person may seek the office of Assessor of Property as an Independent candidate bypassing the primary. When running as Independent, candidates’ names appear on the August General Election along with each primary’s winner. The final day to qualify for the Assessor of Property Office, whether running in the primary election or as an Independent, is Thursday, December 10, at 12 p.m. Petitions for the local county office must be turned in to the Grundy County Election Commission Office.
Delegates to the National Convention must obtain their petition and other documents from the office of the Tennessee Secretary of State, Office/Division of Elections. Delegate petitions must be returned to the Secretary of State by the 12 p.m. deadline on December 10.
A Candidate wishing to withdraw his/her name from consideration after they have filed a petition will have until December 17 to file.
