Altamont, Tenn. – Following an apparently deadly shooting that erupted from a domestic disturbance, the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that took place Friday night. The dispatch went out around 8:30 pm asking deputies to respond to the house of Dale Nolan, 56, in Altamont. Upon arrival, deputies found Stone Nolan, 24, in the home with a gunshot to the upper torso.
Sheriff Clint Shrum said, “The preliminary findings in this incident lead us to believe this was a case of self-defense. As with any shooting death, we will put together our findings and turn them over to the12th Judicial District Attorney’s Office for review.” Shrum also said that the victim had been arrested on previous occasions at the home for domestic assault and vandalism to the residence. Shrum explained Stone Nolan was transported to the Emerald Hodgson Hospital emergency room where the victim was pronounced deceased.
Shrum indicated this was an ongoing investigation and that the victim’s remains had been sent for an autopsy.
