Dr. David Dickerson, a career educator who has held a number of positions in the Grundy County school system, will celebrate his 50th birthday on November 2. He is married to the former Karen Whitman, who is also a career educator in our local schools. They are the parents of John David Dickerson, a sophomore at Tennessee Tech, and Allison Dickerson, a student at North Elementary.
“The Dickersons are mainstays in our schools and have influenced many young lives,” says Palmer Town Historian David Patton.
Patton added that, “An important part of Dr. Dickerson’s legacy will be as founder of the Cross Country Running Team at Grundy County High School. At a time when the lifelong effects of football injuries are becoming known, this sport is growing by leaps and bounds locally and gives parents and student athletes a safer alternative. Congratulations to Dr. Dickerson on this milestone birthday!”
