DAR SUPPORTS MES
Monteagle Elementary School is fortunate to have a relationship with the local Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) chapter. Each year, DAR volunteers at MES encourage 8th graders to learn and write about their history. Monteagle’s local representative, Sarah Zimmerman, presented MES with a portrait of George Washington – a reproduction of one that was saved during the burning of the White House in the War of 1812. Pictured with Zimmerman are Dr. Janet Layne, principal, Natalie Burkard, 8th grade teacher, and five eighth grade students recognized by Zimmerman during an essay contest on WWI.
