Last week, Grundy County Mayor Michael Brady accepted a $35,977 Site Development Grant for the Pelham Industrial Park from Tennessee Economic and Community Development.
“Next year, Grundy County will be eligible for a much larger grant that has been received by other communities for $1,000,000. This will make the Pelham site pad ready and certifiable.”
Brady went on to say that the cost is significant for site construction and Grundy County simply does not have the funds.
“We had to think outside the box on ways to develop our industrial parks and be marketed and improved as much as possible without putting Grundy County in financial distress. We worked with ECD in a step process. We have gone through the Property Evaluation Program (PEP), new website marketing, site plan, geo technical, and conducting the due diligence.
“Also, we are petitioning to be a TVA Automotive Select Site. This will put us on the list of sites that will be showcased for potential companies. We are currently in conversations with potential companies offering significant jobs with living wages and those look very promising in the very near future,” Brady concluded.
