Joanne Childers was first elected to the position of Grundy County Property Assessor in 2000 after serving several years as deputy clerk of the office. At the end of her term, she will have a total of 37 years of service.
Joanne is married to Terry Childers and they have two daughters.Their oldest, Jessica is married to Jamie Tindle and the two have blessed Joanne and Terry with two very active grandsons, Jonathan and Joshua. They will be expecting their third son in a few months. Their younger daughter, Kayla is married to Terry Campbell and they have an amazing son, Tyler and are expecting the first granddaughter for the family in just a few months. The family attends the Church of Christ at Elk Head in Pelham. Terry is employed at Greeter Lumber Company in Altamont.
An excerpt from one of Joanne’s re-election advertisements really sums up her outstanding service to the people of Grundy County. It reads, “I love the job and I love the people of Grundy County! TRUST, HONESTY, and KNOWLEDGE are vital parts of the job and I fulfill these obligations DAILY.
