The Monteagle Church of Christ and Monteagle Flea Market fell victim to vandalism overnight.
Monteagle Chief of Police Virgil McNeece tells the Herald that while on patrol, an officer saw a white male walking through town. The officer stopped the man and found he had a large amount of old coins in a bag. The man told the officer he did not live in Monteagle.
“Upon further investigation, we found where the church had been broken into,” explained McNeece. “We also discovered that a storage building at the Flea Market had been broken into in addition to the cabin at the back of the flea market. This is where the coins came from.”
Jeffery Tittle was arrested and charged with three counts of burglary, three counts of vandalism, and three counts of theft.
McNeese says the property has been returned to the rightful owners.
