Big Creek Utility District was recently awarded first place in the Best Tasting Water competition in Region 10 in Tennessee. The regional water contest, held by the Tennessee Association of Utility Districts (TAUD), took place at Eastside Utility District on Thursday, February 22. The drinking water samples were judged on their clarity, bouquet, and taste.
TAUD Region 10 consists of Bledsoe, Bradley, Grundy, Hamilton, Marion, McMinn, Meigs, Monroe, Polk, Rhea, Sequatchie, and Van Buren counties.
Other utilities from Region 10 submitting water samples for the competition were Athens Utility Board, Eastside Utility District, Etowah Utilities, Fall Creek Falls Utility District, Hixson Utility District, Ocoee Utility District, Sweetwater Utilities Board and Tellico Area Services Systems.
Participating as judges for the event were Craig Ingram of Tennessee 811, Adam Driver of A.D. Engineering, and Trae McDaniel of the Cleveland High School wrestling team.
TAUD will conduct the Best Tasting Water in Tennessee Contest in each of the Association’s 11 regions throughout the upcoming months. The winner of each regional competition will compete at TAUD’s 2018 Business Utility Conference at the Gatlinburg Convention Center on Thursday, August 9. The statewide winner will then represent Tennessee in the Great American Taste Test at the National Rural Water Association Rally in Washington D.C. in February 2019.
