The Big 8 season is officially over. Although basketball has always been thought of as a winter sport, the Big 8 Tournament concluded last Saturday night, one week before the Winter Solstice even arrives. Seems like a long winter for elementary basketball players, coaches, and fans for 2019 – 2020.
The championship saw one predictable winner, while the other championship saw an upset. Nevertheless, both games were exciting to the end. The North Lady Warriors won the tournament and went undefeated. They defeated the Lady Eagles of Tracy City 28 – 22. The St. Andrew’s – Sewanee Mountain Lions shocked the Big 8 with a 27 – 26 win over the previously undefeated North Warriors.
