Strikes deal with D.A; released from jail; wanted for sexual battery and imprisonment of a minor
Jackie Wayne Bean, released in May from the Grundy County Jail where he was facing charges in the murder of Shelby Comer, was the subject of manhunt last week after he was accused of aggravated sexual battery and false imprisonment of a minor.
The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office initiated the search on June 19, thinking he was in the Seqautchie County area. He was apprehended on the evening of June 20, in Franklin County.
In May, Bean made a plea bargain with the District Attorney’s Office to testify about information he had in the Samantha Chandler murder case. He agreed to testify against the suspect in Chandler’s murder, her husband Daniel Chandler.
At the time of Bean’s plea deal and release on time served, Grundy County Sheriff Clint Shrum questioned the arrangement.
“I am absolutely sickened and disheartened by the District Attorney’s decision in this case,” stated Sheriff Shrum when Bean was released in May. “In the weeks to come, the rest of the story in the Shelby Comer case will be told and the question will then be asked why was Jacky Wayne Bean allowed to plea.”
Bean is now back in custody and no information is available on the status of his prior agreement with the District Attorney.
