The Jackets only managed one win in their last three outings. They lost to Chattanooga Christian twice but only Monday’s game counted against their district record. They shut out Notre Dame for their win. The team is now 6-2 on the season and 0-1 in district play.

“CCS is a good team. That’s two games in a row that they’ve beat us but really we’ve beat ourselves. We’ve made multiple errors. We haven’t made plays when we had the opportunity. When we’ve got runners in scoring position we don’t get the timely hit. It’s not for a lack of effort or desire. It’s just you’ve got to have the mentality when in those positions to produce. That’s baseball, sometimes you do and sometimes you don’t.

baseball 4We’ve given them two unearned today out of the four runs they scored and we made five errors. Against a good team you just can’t do that. We’ve got to clean that up. If we clean it up we’ve got potential to be pretty good. If we make errors and don’t get timely hitting we’re not going to be very good.

The good thing about baseball is we get to come back and play these guys again tomorrow. We’re in week three of a two month season in a tournament sport. We take what we can and we’re going to see how we respond,” said Coach Chase Jones after Monday’s contest.

Tuesday Grundy hosted Chattanooga Christian for another district game. Friday they travel to Whitwell for a 5 p.m. start. Monday they travel to Sequatchie County and Tuesday the Indians come to the mountain for 5 p.m. district games. Get out and support the Jackets this week!
