Grundy’s rebuilding year came to an end Saturday, when Chattanooga Christian eliminated Grundy from the District 7AA tournament. The Jackets won more than expected this season and finished with a 14-23 record.

“I felt we were ready going into the tournament but unfortunately over those last three games we scored a total of two runs. We beat Bledsoe 2-1 to get into the tournament and then CCS beat us 10-0 and 12-0.

DSC_0025“It was a great year. I enjoyed every second of coaching our kids. As much as we lost from last year coming into this season, I really didn’t know what to expect. I don’t ever judge the success of a year on the amount of wins that we have. I was surprised that we got over 10 wins after coming after the way that we looked coming into the season.

“I’m very proud of the two seniors we had. Brady Meeks and Paul Freeman did everything they could to keep the ship righted over the course of the year. I think every kid and every coach on the team would say it was a very enjoyable year. It would have been great to advance on through the district tournament but I’m very excited about where our program is heading,” said Coach Chase Jones.
