McDonald’s owner/operators of Greater Chattanooga awarded 47 students each with a $1,000 scholarship during the annual Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Scholarship Banquet on June 24. Part of a yearly initiative, local McDonald’s Owners have donated more than $500,000 in scholarships in the last 12 years.
Dylan Britton of Grundy County High School received a $1,000 college scholarship in recognition of his outstanding accomplishments. McDonald’s owners present this scholarship to students based on their all-around excellence in areas of citizenship, leadership, scholarship and extracurricular activities.
“We had a number of extremely talented applicants this year, and the decision process wasn’t an easy one,” said Jane Kaylor, executive director of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Chattanooga.
In addition to the RMHC awards banquet, local McDonald’s Owners also attend the awards ceremony at each of the recipients’ schools. “As local business owners, it is important to us to give back to the community that has given so much to us,” said Grace Lole, operations manager for area McDonald’s. “Dylan Britton has demonstrated the persistence, determination and hard work that will continue to make him a success. Dylan and other award recipients are the future corporate, social and civic leaders and their many achievements are a credit to their community, school, and family.”Dylan is the son of Tony Britton and Chasity and Jarron Barrett. He plans to attend the Tennessee Academy of Applied Technology in Winchester this fall.
A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Dylan attended Early Morning Seminary Monday through Friday during high school. He graduated from the seminary this spring with perfect attendance for all four years.
In addition to the McDonald’s scholarship, Dylan was awarded the Trigonometry Award, the Business Management and Administration Award, The Finance Award, and received the Wilder- Naifeh Technical Skills Grant.
